Dr. Jenny Lynn Morrison, DNP, ACNP-BC, FACHE is the Manager of the Surgical Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she has held formal leadership roles since 2017. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Villanova University, her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College. Board-certified as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner since 2008, Jenny combines clinical expertise with administrative leadership to oversee APP teams in both inpatient and outpatient roles spanning 10 divisions within the Department of Surgery as well as the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Otorhinolaryngology. She has extensive clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in thoracic surgery, including over a decade of direct clinical care, alongside faculty appointments at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Her work emphasizes enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), patient safety, quality improvement, interdisciplinary education, and the professional growth of APPs.
Jenny's scholarly contributions focus on improving surgical care delivery, APP professional development, and health equity. She led a multidisciplinary preoperative education initiative for esophageal cancer patients as part of her DNP project and has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications on topics including emergency procedure timing, resident clinical work hour adherence, and implicit bias training in medical education. She has presented nationally and internationally on APP integration, patient safety, and surgical care innovation.
Beyond her clinical and academic roles, Dr. Morrison is deeply engaged in professional service and community involvement. She serves on multiple advisory committees within Penn Medicine, including the Advanced Practice Provider Steering Committee. She is active in mentorship, faculty development, and shaping institutional policy related to APP practice and surgical quality improvement. Outside of work, she volunteers as a Girl Scout troop leader, youth basketball coach, and health educator, demonstrating a commitment to fostering wellness and leadership across the community.
