Crystal Broj serves as the Enterprise Chief Digital Transformation Officer at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where she leads strategic initiatives that leverage digital tools, automation, and artificial intelligence to transform healthcare delivery, research, and education. Since joining MUSC in 2022, Crystal has built a high-performing team that partners across departments to streamline operations, enhance the patient experience, and improve clinical and financial outcomes.
Her work has driven measurable results, including a 97% patient satisfaction rate with AI-powered pre-registration, a 37.5% reduction in provider after-hours work through ambient scribe technology, and a 13% reduction in no-show rates via intelligent outreach. Under her leadership, MUSC has successfully implemented enterprise solutions such as Amelia (voice AI), Notable (RPA and care gap outreach), and DexCare (digital scheduling and provider navigation), with each initiative demonstrating tangible ROI and strong clinician and staff adoption.
Crystal is a national thought leader and frequent speaker on digital transformation in healthcare. She has presented at conferences including HIMSS, ViVE, HLTH, Becker’s, and the Notable Noteworthy conference, and was recently named one of the Global CDO 100 award recipients for her leadership in digital innovation and enterprise transformation.
Prior to joining MUSC, she served as Assistant Vice President of Digital Strategy at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Illinois, where she oversaw the digital roadmap, including the launch of a mobile front door integrating Epic’s MyChart. Her earlier roles include Chief Technology & Innovation Officer at the American Association of Diabetes Educators, where she built an award-winning digital platform to support diabetes educators and patients, and various leadership roles in insurance, consulting, and membership organizations.

With a strong foundation in computer science, business analysis, and enterprise operations, she is especially skilled at bringing emerging technologies into complex environments with a focus on change management, cross-functional collaboration, and measurable success.
