Dr. Singhal is Professor of Neurology & Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at University of Texas Health San Antonio, Long School of Medicine and Service Chief, Spinal Cord Injuries & Disorders (SCI/D) Service Care Line at VA San Antonio.
She is ABPN Board certified in Neurology, Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology. She has previously received AAN’s A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award for achievement and dedication to education within the field of Neurology; and was recently awarded a recognition award by VHA Undersecretary of Health Dr. Shereef Elnahal for her exemplary service, contributions & successful implementation of key healthcare initiatives that have mentioned as best practices within the VA healthcare system.
She was invited to present her seminal work on innovative use of immersive technology in Spinal Cord Injuries and Disorders at National VA summit in April 2024.
As current member of DEI Committee as well as past Chair of Women’s issues in Neurology section of American Academy of Neurology (AAN) – she has collaborated on national projects for mentoring neurologists and gender equity toolkit development. She has done numerous invited national and regional presentations –through National VA Women's Health, AAN & American College of Osteopathic Obstreticians and Gynaecologists (ACOOG) and community outreach programs. She is one of the co-administrators of Women Neurologists’ Group, a social media group of 4500+ women neurologists and resident physicians.
She has completed several executive education leadership courses including- Harvard Kennedy School - Senior Executive Fellows Program as 1 of 3 physicians selected nationwide through VA’s nationwide Corporate Executive Development Training program; and more recently VA’s yearlong immersive Healthcare Leadership Development Program in 2023. Her involvement in physician wellbeing is multifaceted – through publications in Neurology and Journal of Women’s health, as member of AAN’s Graduate Education subcommittee {leading development of online resident/fellow wellness toolkit and live leadership program} and as past Director of Wellbeing at her previous local institution.
