Ellington Jones is the Chief Administrative Officer of surgical specialties at U.C. San Diego
Health, overseeing ambulatory and service line operations for the system’s surgical portfolio. He
is a dyad partner to department chairs, executing strategic priorities across these areas.
Prior to this role, Dr. Jones served as the executive director of the digestive diseases service line
at UChicago Medicine. He also held leadership positions at Tenet Healthcare, overseeing service line initiatives
company-wide.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jones has received numerous accolades for his leadership, including
being named one of the University of Florida’s 40 Gators Under 40 and being a finalist in
ACHE’s Richard J. Stull Graduate Essay Competition.
Dr. Jones holds a Doctor of Public Health in Leadership from the University of Illinois at
Chicago, an Executive MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology, an M.H.A.
from the University of Florida, and a B.S. in Health Care Management from Florida A&M
University. He has also taught in the Healthcare Management graduate program at American
University.
Dr. Jones is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and a member
of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE). He remains actively
engaged with his alma maters as a life member of both the Florida A&M University Marching
100 Band Alumni Association and the University of Florida Alumni Association.
