With a distinguished career spanning several decades, Steve Young currently serves as the Phillips County Treasurer in Phillips County, Colorado. Since 2023, he has overseen the financial management and operations of the county, implementing strategic financial planning and budget management while ensuring compliance with all state and local financial regulations.
In addition to this role, Steve has been an integral part of the Melissa Memorial Hospital Board of Directors since 1994, serving as Chair. In this capacity, he provides strategic leadership and direction, ensuring the hospital’s mission, vision, and values are upheld. His leadership facilitates active participation, discussion, and decision-making within the board.
From 2021-2023 Steve was a Grain Merchandiser at Farmer's Business Network, Inc. 2023, where he managed grain merchandising operations, developed relationships with farmers and buyers, and conducted market analysis to optimize trading strategies.
In 2020 and 2021, Steve served as a Cash Advisor at AgWest Commodities, advising clients on cash flow management and financial planning, while providing market insights and investment strategies. He also spent three decades at Grainland Cooperative, from 1990 to 2020, conducting grain trading and merchandising activities, building long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders, and monitoring market trends to maximize profitability.
Steve holds a Bachelor’s degree in Feed Science and Management, reflecting his comprehensive knowledge and expertise in the agricultural and financial sectors.
