Healthcare Executive, Engineer, Published Author and Entrepreneur are just a few words that can be used to describe Alvin J. D’Angelo. Alvin, more commonly known as ‘Joe’ rose from very humble beginnings in Sumter, SC. Joe received his formal education from the University of South Carolina where he graduated from the Norman J. Arnold School of Public Health, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomechanics, shortly followed by a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. As a firm believer in STEM, Joe furthered his education by earning his second master’s degree, a Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering, graduating with Honors from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University. He has also completed advanced training and certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt practitioner and a Kaizen – Rapid Improvement Event Facilitator, both from North Carolina State University.
With over 16 years of experience in various sectors of healthcare, Joe currently serves as the Vice President of Operations at Johns Hopkins Medicine – Suburban Hospital, where he leads the day-to-day operations of the hospital and partners with leaders throughout the National Capital Region and Johns Hopkins Health System to ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins Medicine, Joe served as the Vice President of Operations at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, GA. He also served in several senior leadership capacities during his six years at Duke University Hospital.
A recipient of many professional awards and recognitions, Alvin is an active member and Fellow (FACHE) of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE), The Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
