Dr. Asif Ali, MD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at both The University of Texas Medical School and the University of Houston Medical School. He is a partner at Houston Cardiology Consultants and the founder and director of Cena Research Institute.
A native Houstonian, Dr. Ali earned his BS in Biology from Trinity University in San Antonio and completed his MD at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He pursued his Residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine and Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging before transitioning to private practice.
Dr. Ali serves in several leadership roles, including Chief Medical Officer, Chief of Education, and Chief of Cardiology at various Houston-area hospitals. He is an elected member of the Health Technology Advisory Group of the American Heart Association (AHA) and actively contributes to the AI Committee and the Cardiovascular Metabolic Renal Committee within the AHA.
His academic contributions include authoring books with McGraw Hill International, publishing articles with UpToDate, and numerous papers on cardiovascular diseases. His expertise has been featured on prominent platforms such as The Dr. Oz Show, Bill of Health on Channel 8, Local Channel 2 News, FOX News, Channel 26, and AM radio medical talk shows.
In addition to his academic and clinical work, Dr. Ali is deeply involved in the med-tech space, advising numerous national startups. He also sits on the board of the Texas Collaboration Center, serves on the HITs Committee for the Harris County Medical Center, and is an alternate delegate for the Texas Medical Association. He advises the American Heart Association's Center for Health Technology and Innovation.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Ali enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, ranching, and exploring the outdoors through travel.
