Associate Director of Nursing

Harlan Johnson, MPH, BSN, RN, is the Associate Director of Nursing at the University of Texas at Austin UT Health Austin. He works closely with Clinical Operations Leadership to provide clinical oversight through program evaluation, policy implementation, process improvement and clinical staff management.
After obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, he went on to earned his master’s degree from the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management. Two years later and after working on a grant funded research project aimed at providing free diabetes educational resources to underserved communities within the Rio Grande Valley, he obtained his Nursing degree.
Harlan has worked at several large-scale healthcare organizations in both the Houston and Austin, Texas areas. He brings a unique perspective to healthcare through his experiences working within federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and academic institutions. He enjoys spending time with his family and his two dogs, Cooper and Luci (Scottish Terriers). In his spare time, he can be found tending to his growing plant collection, traveling or playing tennis.
