Lizzy Case, MHA, graduated from the University of Minnesota in spring 2023 with a Master's in Health Administration. Throughout her graduate studies, Lizzy held diverse roles, contributing to various healthcare settings. As a researcher, she focused on optimizing procedural processes in echo imaging within the Pediatric Echo Lab. At Phillips Neighborhood Clinic, Lizzy fulfilled multiple roles, including patient clerk, scheduler, and operations associate. Moreover, Lizzy gained valuable experience through internships at UC Irvine Medical Center, where she worked within the ambulatory department, and at Mayo Clinic, where she contributed to the Emergency Department. These internships provided her with firsthand exposure to different facets of healthcare delivery, enhancing her skill set and knowledge base.
Following graduation, Lizzy served as an administrative fellow at UC San Diego Health. Throughout her time, she collaborated with various departments, including the emergency department, physician group/ambulatory, commUnity care, strategy, project management office, and Moores Cancer Center. In her capacity, Lizzy spearheaded several significant initiatives. She led a referral optimization project for gastroenterology and facilitated the expansion of workers' compensation initial injury visits to express care. Additionally, she played an active role in projects concerning advanced practice provider (APP) utilization for CT surgery, policy transition for non-invasive imaging services to a new campus location, and the implementation of the 'Culture of Patient Safety' initiative for all system leaders, among others.
Following her administrative fellowship, Lizzy is now a Senior Project Manager within the Project Management & Practice Development team, specifically for the Physician Group, at UC San Diego Health. She is currently on projects encompassing operations, strategy, and quality improvement. In addition to her professional endeavors, Lizzy actively engages with the ACHE Southern California’s Healthcare Leadership Chapter. She finds fulfillment in collaborating with local leaders, staying on top of emerging best practices, and nurturing enduring professional connections.
