Caroline S. Russell is a dynamic healthcare executive serving as the Associate Administrator at Mayo Clinic in Florida. In this role, she is the administrative lead for the Clinical Practice Shield, where she spearheads strategies to support clinical practice priorities across the Florida campus. She also serves as the Director of Business Development, responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and developing new business opportunities for Mayo Clinic in Florida. Caroline is instrumental in aligning departments with institutional priorities, developing, and implementing strategic and operational plans.
Caroline's journey at Mayo Clinic began in 2016 when she joined as an Operations Administrator. Over the years, she has held various roles, providing leadership for departments & divisions such as Hematology and Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, General Internal Medicine, Executive Health, Concierge Medicine, and Ophthalmology. Her previous experience includes serving as the Administrative Director for the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center and the Thoracic Oncology Program at Duke University Medical Center and Duke Cancer Institute. Before these roles, she completed an Administrative Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.
Caroline's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in commerce and business administration from The University of Alabama and a Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a Fellow in the Carol Emmott Foundation, which focuses on accelerating the leadership capacity and impact of women leaders in health. Caroline is also board certified as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves as the Director-At-Large for the North Florida Chapter Board. Additionally, she is the President of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Health Professions Women in Healthcare Leadership Executive Board and a board member of We Care Jacksonville, a nonprofit providing access to specialty healthcare for low-income and uninsured patients. Her accolades include being a Jacksonville Business Journal 40 Under 40 awardee in 2024 and the recipient of the North Florida Regent’s Early Careerist Award by the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2018.
