As Sutter Health’s Chief Operating Officer, Mark Sevco has broad responsibility for the operations of Sutter’s 23 hospitals, six markets, eight regional medical foundations, systemwide service lines, home health, nursing, ASC’s, construction and real estate and other diversified business across northern California. Mark works in a dyadic partnership with Sutter Health’s Chief Physician Executive to lead and oversee the organization’s clinically integrated healthcare delivery system with a strong focus on operational excellence.
Prior to joining Sutter, Sevco was the executive vice president and President of UPMC Hospitals, with direct oversight of 5 markets and 40 hospitals across Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland. UPMC headquartered in Pennsylvania is a multi-state payer provider academic health system with several international facilities and operations with $28B in revenue and 100,000+ employees. Sevco spent the last 30 years at UPMC in various senior leadership positions operating the system’s hospitals, service lines, ambulatory care, and physician services. Over his tenure he led the implementation of many hospital mergers with a strong focus on operational integration and standardization. In addition, Sevco worked internationally in China and Dubai on projects as part of the UPMC International Division.
Sevco holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, and a master’s degree in health administration and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
