Anthony Poole is a doctoral-level Physician Associate who serves as the Sr. System Director for Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC. In this role, he leads a team of Quality and Safety Managers to implement quality initiatives across all clinical and non-clinical services for a 16-hospital health system across the state of South Carolina. In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Poole also practices clinically as a Physician Associate in Family Medicine. Prior to transitioning to MUSC, he served as the Chief Clinical and Quality Officer a large Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the Lowcountry region of South Carolina. In that role, he oversaw all aspects of the quality improvement and risk management programs as well as clinical, quality, and outreach operations.
Anthony Poole was recognized as the South Carolina Provider of the Year in 2020 by the SC Primary Health Care Association and one of Charleston’s Forty Under 40 Professionals in 2020. He currently serves in leadership positions on a variety of community boards including the South Carolina Cancer Alliance, Chairman of the Cancer Control Advisory Committee to the SC Dept of Public Health, and is the President of the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association’s Lowcounty Chapter in SC.
He is passionate about health equity and increasing access to quality healthcare services for all people.
