Lindsey Umlauf is a proud Terry Scholar and graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio. After graduating with a degree in Psychology, she commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army through the Army-Baylor Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2010. Following her assignment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, she volunteered for a deployment to Afghanistan in 2015, providing injury prevention and rehabilitation to Special Operations and NATO service members. She has held leadership roles at the DiLorenzo Physical Therapy clinic at the Pentagon and successive leadership assignments at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX as Deputy Chief of Physical Therapy and later as the Deputy Chief of Rehabilitation Medicine. She is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist.
She further advanced her education by obtaining a Master of Health Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Baylor University in 2021. She currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Strategic Actions Group at the Medical Center of Excellence in San Antonio, TX. Major Umlauf holds several additional non-clinical certifications and credentials. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP), a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and holds the U.S. Army certification in Knowledge Management.
Major Umlauf is actively involved in professional organizations. She is the Federal Sector representative to the Nominating Committee for the American College of Health Executives (ACHE), Mentorship Chair for the Army ACHE chapter, and is a founder of the Joint Federal Mentorship program within the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) to increase collaboration within the Military Health System. She also is a member of the advisory council and a co-host for the War Docs Military Medicine Podcast. Through these roles, she contributes to the growth and development of her peers and the broader healthcare community.
Major Umlauf is married to another U.S. Army officer and physical therapist, LTC Jon Umlauf whom she met in Physical Therapy school. She has a stepson named Wyatt and a mini-golden doodle named Chewy.
