Medical Director, On-Demand Virtual Care

Tim Ruth has 24 years of experience as a Family Physician and joined the Consumer Access and Engagement team as the Medical Director for the On-Demand Virtual Care team in 2022. He earned his BA in Chemistry from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He served in the United States Air Force for 8 years as a family physician and flight surgeon, where he also served as the Medical Director for several clinics. In 2008 he joined St. Luke's Health System, first as a family medicine physician and outpatient clinic Medical Director. In 2014 he stood up a new urgent care center within St. Luke's and served as the Medical Director in that role for 8 years. He dedicated another 14 years in the Idaho Air National Guard as a Flight Surgeon, with numerous additional roles as Director of Lab Services, Chief of Medical Staff, and Chief of Aerospace Medicine. His experience encompasses outpatient primary care, urgent care, emergency care, and deployed medical care in austere environments. Since joining the On-Demand team, he has helped to oversee the rapid development of many new clinical services and ongoing initiatives, with a focus on high-quality, efficient care and enhanced patient access.
