Medical Director, Care Coordination
SSM Health
I have over 10 years of experience in clinical care, leadership, and administration and currently serve as the Medical Director of Care Coordination for the Lake St. Louis ministry at SSM Health, a health system with 23 hospitals and over 11,000 providers in four states. I graduated from a 6 year BA/MD program after high school and have a Master of Health Administration, which enable me to combine clinical and operational expertise and deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-centered care across the continuum.
In my current role, I lead several initiatives to improve care coordination, reduce readmissions and mortality, standardize multi-disciplinary rounds, optimize utilization, and improve documentation integrity. I’ve also undertaken regional value based care initiatives related to skilled nursing facilities (SNF). I collaborate with hospital leadership, clinicians, case managers, utilization managers, and social workers to implement new care processes, review medical necessity and utilization, perform peer-to-peer discussions with insurance medical directors, and improve clinical documentation. Previously, I worked on clinical integration at BJC HealthCare, where I coordinated quality and resource management across 15 hospitals in the system, focusing on radiology and lab/blood management. I also have extensive experience as a general musculoskeletal and non-interventional spine physiatrist, utilizing musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnosis and injections. I am the editor of a book on ultrasound-guided injections, which has been translated into multiple languages.
I also serve as a committee member for the American Hospital Association's Committee on Clinical Leadership, the Missouri ACHE Chapter's Physician Engagement Committee Chair, and the Gateway HIMSS Chapter's Advocacy Chair. In my specialty, I've been involved in leadership programs and served on numerous committees: for the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, I serve on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. For the Association of Academic Physiatrists, I've graduated from the Program for Academic Leadership, served on the Program Planning Committee, and now serve on the Big Ideas Task Force and Leadership Development and Recognition Committee.
