Allison Ferro started her nursing and military career in 2008 when she graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Molloy College and received her commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army as a distinguished military graduate from St. John’s University. She has served as an Army nurse in a variety of patient care settings and administrative roles throughout her career including: staff nurse positions in orthopedics, neurovascular, telemetry, and progressive care, recruiter, staff researcher on the joint combat casualty care research team, clinical nurse officer-in-charge of inpatient oncology, brigade nurse, company commander, and chief of clinical education in the U.S. Army burn center. She received her Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Trident University International in 2015 and her PhD in nursing science from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a graduate from the Army Basic Officer Leadership Course, Army Medical Department Advanced Course, and the Command and General Staff College. Her awards include the meritorious service medal, joint service commendation medal, Army commendation medal with three oak leaf clusters Army achievement award with two oak leaf clusters, military outstanding volunteer service medal, two overseas service ribbons, Afghanistan campaign medal, NATO service ribbon, parachutist badge, air assault badge, and the expert field medical badge. Allison has one combat deployment to Afghanistan with the U.S. Army Central Command. Allison is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing, The Army Nurse Corps Association, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Allison has several peer-reviewed journal publications and has presented over a dozen scholarly presentations. Allison has dedicated her future service to the Army to improving combat casualty care. She is married with three children ages 9, 6, and 3, and is an active volunteer and member of Bracken Global Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas.
