MAJ Tiara Walz has served as an Assistant Professor at the Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration since August 2022, bringing over 15 years of dedicated service as a healthcare administrator and Medical Service Corps Officer. She earned her Ph.D. in Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy from Oregon State University in 2023, where her dissertation focused on chronic pain in the veteran population and its impact on healthcare utilization and expenditures at both individual and systems levels. She also holds a Master of Health Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the Army-Baylor Program (2017) and a Graduate Certificate in College and University Teaching from Oregon State University (2021).
MAJ Walz is deeply passionate about leadership, coaching, and empowering others to find their voice in the professional space. She believes that everyone has something valuable to contribute and is committed to helping others overcome imposter syndrome. Her work and research focus on organizational behavior, and addressing health disparities among veterans, military servicewomen, and marginalized groups through the lens of public health and health policy.
A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2018, MAJ Walz serves as Co-Chair of the Army Regent Advisory Council’s Advancement Committee and as Outreach Director for the South Texas Chapter. Stationed in Texas, she is dedicated to networking, teaching, healthcare leadership, and improving the quality of life for healthcare leaders, students, and military personnel.
