Workforce Cultivation
As healthcare executives are all too aware, the nursing shortage in our country has taken a toll on hospitals and health systems, but what we donβt hear much about is the critical shortage of healthcare techs also plaguing our healthcare system. These professionals are behind the scenes at every hospital and include laboratory techs, radiologic techs, surgical techs, phlebotomists, ER techs and many others. They make up an essential core team for running your hospital, so strategies need to be put in place to retain and engage top talent during this critical time. This session will provide background on the shortage of healthcare technicians and why it has become more important now than ever to retain good employees in these professions; discuss current strategies being applied at Quest Diagnostics to attract and recruit future laboratory professionals; and present learnings in keeping healthcare techs engaged at a hospital level. The use of actual case studies and the question-and-answer section will provide immediate take-home tools to improve employee retention and engagement among healthcare techs.
This session is not eligible for Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit.
