Career Resources
Transitioning from a career in healthcare management to teaching is a viable option for senior executives who want a fulfilling second career and have a passion for sharing knowledge and mentoring. It is important to prepare for teaching well in advance so you have the necessary skills in effective communication, adaptability and patience as well as practical teaching techniques. Connecting with experienced educators while you are still active in your career will be indispensable to secure a future position that suits your knowledge and skills. The panel is led by a current CEO of a large hospital system who already has a teaching appointment. The second panelist is the former leader of Mayo Clinic who has now fully transitioned into an academic appointment and helped develop a new program in health informatics. The third panelist is a former CEO for a large physician practice who has developed an Executive Master of Health Administration structured for senior executives. All three panelists will provide their unique perspectives in their transition to teaching positions and the additional preparation required to do so. This session will be a great opportunity for those who embrace the opportunity to inspire and shape future professionals.
