This session will delve into the intricacies of establishing and assessing a medical multidisciplinary clinic/program, a model increasingly recognized for its effectiveness in treating complex health conditions. Attendees will gain insights into the foundational elements necessary for building such a clinic, including team composition, infrastructure and patient-centered care protocols. The session will explore strategies for fostering collaboration among diverse medical specialties, allied health professionals and support staff, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary communication and coordination in delivering holistic patient care. Case studies illustrating successful clinic models will be presented, showcasing real-world applications and outcomes.
Attendees will learn about relevant metrics, assessment tools and continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the clinic remains responsive to evolving healthcare needs and maintains high standards of quality care. Finally, this session will also address how to develop and manage the clinics/programs as clinical divisions and volumes increase, and as institutions grow and change. This will be done with a real-world example of a pediatric community hospital transitioning to be part of an academic system with a focus on multidisciplinary care and programs.
